Public Safety

 Police Department

120 East Third Street

     The Police Department consists of the Chief of Police, Roger Cothern, and eight full time policeman, as well as four full-time and one part time radio dispatchers. There are also six auxiliary policeman for special duty.  The department has three patrol cars.  Call 911 for emergencies.

Fire Department

400 East First Street

     Fire Chief Rod Bland, commands a volunteer fire department of twenty-one members.  Equipment consists of: 
      Station 1:  Pana: 1- Structural Pumper, 1-Rescue Pumper, 1-65’ Tower/ Pumper, 1-Tanker,  
                     1-Quick Attack Brush Pumper, 1-Equipment / Air Van, 1-EMS Responder Vehicle.
     Station 2:  Oconee: 1-Structural Pumper, 1-Tanker, 1-Quick Attack Brush Pumper.

    Staffed by volunteers,  under the supervision of Rod Bland.

Civil Defense

    The Civil Defense E.S.D.A. consists of twenty volunteer members. They have two fully equipped vans and two trucks.  The Civil Defense works closely with the Fire and Police Departments. The Coordinator is Joe West.
